House cleaning for Dog Owners
Baking soda is a simple and affordable option to keep your carpets smell fresh.
- Sprinkle a tiny amount of it on the carpet and allow it to rest for a while; after that, simply vacuum it.
Cleanse your home with baking soda to create your own air freshener.
- Combine 1/4 cup baking powder and water into a spray bottle, and shake it well. (You can also add cinnamon, vanilla extract, or essential oils too.) Baking soda is able to absorb the pet's (or another unpleasant) smell. Vinegar that is sprayed into the air also removes the smell of dogs.
Set a softener fabric sheet close to your pet's most loved places.
- Decided to keep your pet from climbing on the furniture, but then has found his/her alternative favorite spots to lay in the home. One of them is just next to the sofa. You could put a softener sheet underneath the cushion right next to where your pet lies to fight the dog odor. Also, he/she could have his/her own blanket to lay on, just make sure to wash it each week.
Place mats inside and outside the door to prevent dirt from entering the home.
- There's more inside and outside the house, and you can make it a habit of your pet to wash their paws against the door. It is also suggested to place mats on both the outside and inside of the door to prevent dirt that is able to enter the home.
You should be sure to clean up any spills immediately to ensure that your dog does not believe that the area is a toilet for him/her.
- Avoid cleaning products that contain ammonia because they smell like urine for dogs. A homemade cleaner that you can use to treat pet accidents is quite easy to prepare. It is made by mixing 1 one quart of boiling water with 1 tablespoon of dishwashing soap and one teaspoon of white vinegar. Blot the area using towels, then wet it with the homemade cleaner, and allow it to remain for fifteen minutes prior to cleaning it up again.
Always place a mat underneath their food bowls to assist in the easy cleaning process and also to ensure that the majority of food or water debris is off your floor.
Vacuum frequently.
- You can increase your frequency of vacuuming up to twice a day. It's not a thorough cleansing type of vacuuming but will lessen the fur. It's not much of a concern for your pet; however, when he/she gets bigger and grows, so will their hair problem.
Cleaning your home with pets isn't always difficult. In addition, it's not difficult, but it will require different routines. A little bit of instruction for you and your dog (and children!) can help you succeed in keeping your home clean.
